These are my first ideas for my animation advert I will do. I started drawing rough characters and products to make into a stop-motion animation.
This is the idea for my main character in my advert. I am going to do a virtual reality advertisement and the main character is thew client testing out the new product.
This is the idea I had for the animation and he will fight the main character in the virtual world.
I started thinking of what set would be best for this particular animation and I started drawnig an idea which I liked and will use for the animation. It features one side a living room where the character first tries on the product and the other side the virtual world for my main character to walk in.
This is the main idsea for my virtual reality helmet that the hero will put on to enable him to enter the virtual world.
These are a few images I looked up to influence my villain and enhance him further maybe. I chose these 3 because they show the traditional look on a cowboy and some villains.
These images are ideas I looked at for some helmet designs for the virtual reality helmet. I looked at these to find out about the different styles of helmets and colours used for them.
These are a few set ideas I looked at. Living room for one side of the set where my character will start off and videogame backgrounds for the other side of the set when my character enters the game.
This is the film I was basing my virtual reality advert on. But I changed the idea of what will happen within the advert.
This is the storyboard for my overall animation.
This is the final copy of my animation.
Animation Evaluation

I was given the task to create an advert using stop-motion animation. I started coming up with ideas on what I wanted to advertise and design basic character sketches that would be simple enough for me to make out of clay. This was effective as the finished characters looked really good and worked when filming my animation. However I should have made one of the characters lighter as his arm fell off during filming and at some points of the advert you could see parts of my hand as I was trying to hold the character up.

I followed the storyboards I created well and the camera angles used worked the way I pictured it to look when thinking of the idea.

During editing I started looking for the right type of music to put in the background of my animation. This is when I came across an old videogame soundtrack that was royalty free. This helped me avoid copyright claims and worked really well with my advert.

For the sound effects I used simple cartoon punching, a cartoon pop sound effect and a walking sound effect. I had to play about with the sound volume until it blended in really well with the voice and with the music that was playing in the background.

I then looked for something that would work really well when the character won the fight and the writing victory popped up. I went onto YouTube and typed in Victory sound effect and came across an old videogame voice that says “Victorious”. This was perfect for the type of victory noise I was looking for.

Overall I am really happy with my animation and the voice fits in really well. I have also learned new skills when creating my animation such as adding a smoke and explosion effect over my video and how to scale and position it to look good with the footage I have.

I look forward to creating more animation projects in the future as I really enjoyed creating this advert.
